How to use a visual routine chart
A chart works because it moves the nagging off you and onto the paper: “what's next on the chart?” is a calmer sentence than “put your shoes on, again.” A few things make it stick.
Go through the chart together once when everyone is calm, not in the middle of a rush. Hang it where the routine happens, at your child's eye level. Keep to the same order every day, and let your child tick the circle themselves; finishing a step is the reward in itself, and a quick “you did the first two!” goes a long way.
Visual schedules are a common tool in parent training for young children, including children with ADHD. They're a support, not a treatment, and they don't replace advice from your child's pediatrician or therapist.
Want it to remind you, too?
The printed chart can't beep. Kin Compass has the same routines as ready-made templates with reminders, a calm “what to say” script for the moments a routine falls apart, and a wins screen your child can see. Free to start, no account. You can also read the same scripts on the web: what to say to a preschooler in hard moments.

Questions
Are these charts really free?
Yes. Download and print as many as you like for your own family, classroom, or therapy practice. Please don't resell them or republish the files; link to this page instead.
What age are they for?
They're written for ages 3 to 5. A few steps are tagged “Age 4–5”; for a younger child, cross those out or cover them with tape so the chart stays short.
Do I need the app?
No. The printable charts work on their own. The Kin Compass app adds reminders, a “what to say” script for tantrums and transitions, and a way to track wins, but nothing here requires an account or an email.
Can I change the steps?
Print one, then write or draw over it, or cut the steps apart and rearrange them. In the app you can edit each routine, add your own steps, and set reminders.
